Scripture Passage:  “They that go down to the sea in ships,  that do business in great waters; These see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep.”  Psalms 107:23-24

Dear Friends,

There is nothing so calming to me, or frightful, as the waters of the ocean.  One minute you are lying on the beach with your toes in the sand, the next you are overcome by the rising tide and scampering to get out of the way of the crashing billows.  Water and wind are two of the most destructive natural forces known to man.  The same thing that cools you off and rocks you to sleep has the ability to drown and blow you away.  I like to visit the beach on vacation and go on cruises aboard the large ships, but there is no way I would want to live there all the time. I will choose the mountains every time.  We may be susceptible to a tornado, but it would be near impossible for us to be hit by a hurricane.  The climate and topography that attracts one person, repels another.  That is one of the things that make us unique as one of God’s creations.
Since the earth is covered by 75% water, it stands to reason there are frontiers yet to conquer and new waters to chart.  The depth and expanse of the ocean provide habitat for aquatic and plant life that are yet to be seen for the first time by the human eye. There are so many organisms living in varied types of water environments that there is not adequate space or knowledge to categorize them all.   The vastness of the ocean and the expanse of the heavens remind us of the magnificence of God.  All the knowledge and wisdom of man could fit on a pin head compared to the awesome mind of God. This time of year turns my attention to the beauty of God’s creation.  The leaves begin to change and the days are growing shorter.  Crops are being harvested and very soon the grass will stop growing.  It seems all around us God is coloring his creation with beautiful colors.  The laugh of a child and the smile of the elderly remind me that God still takes pleasure in blessing His children.  Amongst the pain and suffering, filth and ugliness, hopelessness and despair, God’s love and beauty rises above it all.  Our God is so much bigger than the circumstances we face.  He is not only able, He is also willing to deliver us and set our affections on high.  Look around and search for the hand of God at work.  It is not near as bad as you think because The King is still on His throne.  Take time to notice the awesomeness of God in things only He can do.  Never lose your sense of wonder.  In child- like amazement express your pleasure and admiration for the Father.  In the words of my grandson, J.P. “WOW!” In Christ, Pastor Johnny
